YOUR YOGA RETREAT LOCATION: PUGLIA ITALY!
Quietness, peace, nature, liberty, yoga, sharing, heart, love: these are the key concepts to convey the spirit of “La Rosa dei 4 Venti”, set in the countryside about 5 miles from Martina Franca, in Puglia, Italy.
The 16th century masseria (farmhouse) has been elegantly restored in a way that the old Apulian style meets contemporary chic. The cool, white stone building makes it a perfect temperature even under the hot Italian sun. The stylish rooms are extremely comfortable and the traditional Italian cuisine is mouth-wateringly divine. Martina Franca is nearby with its charming cobbled streets, markets, Italian coffee and ice cream. La Rosa Dei 4 Venti is the ultimate yoga destination for a yoga retreat in Italy.
Whether you want to deepen your yoga practice, chill by the pool, relax with a massage, cycle the rolling hills, or swim in the sea – all is possible in this spectacular Italian location.
All rooms are en-suite with shower, toilet and basin. Each room is a different shape and unique is its own way. Furnishings and fabrics complement the building and create a calm and very comfortable environment. The main house comfortably accommodates 10 students and close by there are 5 rooms in traditional Trulli houses. These small, white conical buildings are one of the most magical aspects of the Puglian landscape. It’s not a hotel; it’s a unique, comfortable, family-run specialist yoga destination.
A range of massage treatments is offered at very reasonable rates. Sessions should be booked at the beginning of the week.
OUR TYPICAL DAY
7:00am – 8:00am Fruit and juices
8:00am – 10:00am Yoga practice
10:15am Morning breakfast
5:00pm – 7:00pm Yoga practice
On some days a light supper will be served at 5pm and we will have a restorative yoga nidra class from 7pm to 9pm. This will allow us to fast 13 hours from evening to morning and to restore the body to circadian rhythm. Two half days or one full day off mid week to explore the area and sightseeing.
This yoga retreat is lead by Margherita Dal Pra, the founder of YogaM. Margherita is a very experienced yoga and meditation teacher with 14 years of teaching experience. Her classes are a synthesis of Anusara bio-mechanical principles of alignment, along with heart-centered themes and the lineage and depth of knowledge of Tantric Hatha energetics in the Para Yoga® style. Read more about her background here.
This yoga retreat is open to all ages and levels of fitness and experience. Every session will have attention to detail (alignment), awareness of breath (pranayama), openness to grace (attitude) and intelligent sequencing (vinyasa krama). The morning yoga classes will be more upbeat and energizing, and the afternoon classes more relaxed.
All sessions will be adapted to the group and modifications of the poses will be offered to cater for all participants and to ensure that everyone is receiving the benefits of the practice and individual attention.
I firmly believe that your yoga practice should be supported by delicious and wholesome food. The mouth watering vegetarian meals cooked by Ilaria, our local chef, are cooked using local produce. You will sample some of the traditional recipes of Puglia as well as raw and alkalising meals.
Everything will be wheat free, the only dairy will be homemade goat cheese and the milk is locally unpasteurized boiled in the house. All the pasta is homemade with spelt. If you have any special dietary requirements please notify us at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate these.
You will be surprised on how strong and healthy you will feel by the end of the week. For the same reason the retreat is strictly alcohol free and we strongly ask you to respect that by not bringing any wine of your own to not encourage others.
Everything about the week was exceptional. Margherita is an inspiring yoga teacher, the setting is peaceful and beautiful, the food totally delicious. I can’t recommend the retreat at La Rosa dei 4 Venti highly enough.
I had the great privilege of sharing an amazing week with Margherita at La Rosa dei 4 Venti. The retreat was as close to perfection as one can hope for. Marghe is a very dedicated, caring, loving and inspirational teacher. The location is serene and peaceful, the food is plentiful, healthy and delicious. Giulia has created un paradiso in true Italian style with attention to every detail. I am an experienced yoga ‘retreater” and this venue combined with Margherita’s expertise and loveliness has “raised the barre” at every level.
A belated thanks for organising one of the most amazing weeks last month! The retreat at La Rosa was beyond my expectations in every way. The yoga, food, healing energy, company, location and even the AIR all combined for a holistic shift in me. I made some important decisions that week that I had been putting off. The thought and care that you put into the teaching for the week was an extra special gift to all of us who were there. Can’t wait for next year!
I want to tell you that I had the most wonderful time at La Rosa last week; things have become clearer to me. I made decisions at La Rosa which will make me happier in the future and that is thanks to you. You have a wise and profound perspective on what matters in life and I will carry that forwards. Oh, and the yoga was fantastic! Thank you so much.

Puglia has often been called the country between two seas, namely the Ionic and the Adriatic. Both are roughly in equal distance and easy to reach by car.
The area is full of interesting destinations, so we advise you to rent a car. The surroundings are a good stroll. Bicycles are also available.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is located in the large Itria valley (valle d’Itria) in the heart of Puglia. The low hilled valley is full of terraced vineyards, olive groves, fruit and almond trees, small woods, pastures and fields surrounded by low walls made up of boulders.
In the old times, the peasants of the region used to collect these boulders whenever they found them on their fields, and built their so-called “trulli” with them. “Trulli” are the characteristic circular buldings with their cone-shaped roofs. Itria is the heartland of the “trulli”, with 4,000 of them scattered all over the valley. It has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site because of them.
Martina Franca, the next town, is ten minutes away by car. It is a pretty little town famous for its baroque buldings, but since the sea is quite remote, there is little tourism. The medieval town of Ceglie with its 14th century castle on top is half an hour’s drive.
The best beach area is around the seaside town of Taranto on the Ionic coast, approx. 30 km from La Rosa dei 4 Venti. The Adriatic is roughly at the same distance. An alternative is the swimming pool on the spot, of course.
