Into the Magic
Immersive Yoga Retreat
4 – 11 APRIL 2020
Leave the April rain far behind and rejuvenate your spirit at an immersive yoga retreat on Bali, the Island of the Gods. Into the Magicis an extended retreat and immersive experience open to yoga students and teachers of all levels who are interested in deepening their practice.
With workshops and study opportunities alongside open-air practice in the delightful peace and luxurious serenity of the Desa Seni yoga resort, the retreat is a supportive and nurturing environment where you can travel further along the path at your own pace.
We’ll begin each day with meditation, pranayama and a deep two-hour practice with Margherita, followed by a delicious organic brunch.
In the afternoons we’ll learn from experienced guest teachers and enjoy workshops on topics such as philosophy, anatomy, Ayurveda, diet, lifestyle and self-care.
Evenings are for healing restorative practice, followed by Yoga Nidra and a mouth-watering dinner prepared with the finest local fruits, vegetables and grains.
Each day you’ll have free time to hang out and relax by the pool, enjoy a soothing treatment in the onsite spa or explore the stunning local coastline and beaches.
Mornings: We begin with morning meditation, pranayama and dynamic yoga, to cultivate a sense of presence and help us gently tune into our beautiful natural surroundings.
Afternoons: Workshops on topics such as philosophy, history, anatomy, Ayurveda, diet, lifestyle, nutrition and self-care, plus experienced guest teachers.
Evenings: Yin and restorative yoga, with bolsters and blankets provided, to soothe our bodies and bring us to stillness before a healing Yoga Nidra.
We’ll take the time to delve deeply into anatomy, Ayurveda, philosophy, history, lifestyle, nutrition and self-care. We’ll be supported by world-class guest teachers such as Rachel Ellery and experienced local practitioners offering sound healings, breath work and other intriguing practices.
ASANA & PRANAYAMA LABS
We’ll spend two days breaking down poses, helping everyone get clear on alignment, answering all your questions and exploring the art of sequencing. This will give you valuable tips on developing and rejuvenating your home practice.
TIME FOR ADVENTURES
We’ll keep a full day or two half-days free for you to do whatever you choose, without any study – just a brief morning practice or evening restorative. We’ve set aside three evenings when you may choose to join us for excursions to the spa baths, ecstatic dance and a closing dinner at one of the beautiful vegan restaurants nearby. There will also be an opportunity to visit Ubud for an optional shopping trip. The schedule isn’t set in stone, as we want to give you ample time and space for resting and quiet reflection too.

“let thy food be thy medicine”
Food at Desa Seni
You don’t have to be vegetarian to practice yoga, but Desa Seni offers a vegetarian menu because we believe it’s important to be connected to the source of our food and to know how and where it was grown. Desa Seni offers sustainable, fresh and organic food at each meal that has been grown in the local community. This diet may be different to your normal food, and your body may move through a detox phase before it leads you gently to a place of renewed energy and vigour.
We recommend you stay hydrated during your stay to flush out any toxins. We’re happy to cater for any dietary requirements, religious restrictions or food intolerances. Please let us know if you feel you’re missing anything nutritionally or if you have any special dietary requirements.
Spa at Desa Seni
Desa Seni’s Merapu Svaasthya spa offers a host of traditional and holistic treatments in both Western and Eastern traditions, such as hot stone massage, reflexology and chakra healing as well as it own signature massage. You can even have a facial, manicure or pedicure.
Two Desa Seni signature massage are included in your package!

things to do in Bali
You’ll have ample time during the retreat to explore the magical island of Bali. From dramatic central mountains to sun-drenched beaches and lush, terraced rice fields, Bali is a tropical paradise rich in culture, spirituality and breathtaking natural beauty. The open smiles of the island’s famously warm people combine with stunning natural beauty to create a life-enriching experience you won’t soon forget.
With a rich history, culture and an estimated 10,000 temples scattered across a small island, spirituality is an integral part of Balinese life. If you’re feeling fit, you could visit the tallest peak of Gunung Agung, the island’s spiritual centre, or surf the famous beaches of the southern coast. Bali’s major cultural destination is Ubud, where traditional dances are staged each night and the streets are full of art and craft galleries.
thing to do in Canggu
The resort village of Canggu is the perfect spot for a laid-back visit to an organic cafe or restaurant, low-key nightlife, beachcombing or more energetic pursuits. Surrounded by terraced rice paddies and famous for its surfing beaches and equestrian centres, some of Canggu’s beaches are named after landmark sea temples that guard the coasts, such as Pura Batu Mejan, overlooking Canggu’s most famous surf spot, ‘Echo Beach’.
Visit nearby Seminyak for high-end shops and restaurants, while the beachside town of Kuta is well-known for its nightlife. North of Canggu you’ll find Tanah Lot, a famous Hindu temple sitting just off the shore on a dramatic, rocky outcrop.
