Yoga Retreat in Thailand
Golden Buddha Resort
2 - 12 November 2008

This yoga retreat is hosted in a superb setting of timeless natural beauty combined with balmy solitude. The only things on this remote island aside from the eco-resort in which we stay are kilometres of pristine, deserted beach, two small fishing villages, monkeys, birds and a marine turtle research and protection project.

Yoga Space: An open platform carved from wood provides our yoga space, with the roof and surrounding coconut foliage giving protection from the sun. The platform is equipped with heavy duty sticky mats, belts, eye bags, blocks, and a pile of cotton Iyengar-like blankets. You do not need to bring any cumbersome equipment from abroad but please bring your own yoga mat. If you don't have one please contact www.freespirituk.com to purchase one prior to departure for your holiday.

Your day: Two sessions of yoga practice are offered each day; a morning deep flow dynamic class, and a gentle evening class awakening an internal awareness as preparation for meditation. There will also be ample time for exploring nature, swimming, and relaxation. This holiday is not for absolute beginners but for those who already have some experience and are keen to improve their practice, deepen their understanding (physically, mentally, spiritually) and experience the transformative essence of yoga - bringing the benefits into their everyday lives.

Treatments  a wide range of treatments will be available.

The holiday will include a possible excursions to the even more remote island of Ko Surin and it's Marine National Park where there are beautiful coral reefs for diving and a visit to a Thai Buddhist monastery that receives Western visitors (please confirm with www.freespirituk.com whether this is possibile)

Your Accommodation: An almost deserted, 16-kilometer beach is practically at the doorstep of your private bungalow, which is located in tree-covered grounds, thus ensuring you quietness, tranquillity and privacy. This is the only group accommodation on this pristine island, which until quite recently harboured sea gypsies and pirates. The Golden Buddha resort is in a world class setting - a narrow peninsula jutting into the Andaman Sea with a cove on one side and an endless sweep of golden beach on the other side. It is an ideal launching point for exploring the marine life and islands of the Andaman Sea, and is located near Kuraburi, about two hours north of Phuket. You will be staying in typical Thai accommodation which is either 'standard' or 'superior'. Superior accommodation has sea views and has recently been re-furbished whilst standard accommodation has 'monkey tree views'!

Prices: Cost: 7 nights: £495 standard sharing, £579 superior sharing. 10 nights: £665 standard sharing, £785 superior sharing. (Single supplement £21 per night). Includes: Transfer, tuition, accommodation and full board. Not included: Insurance, flight & treatments.

How to get there: Getting There: Fly to Bangkok and onward to Phuket or Ranong. From Phuket or Ranong you will be met and transferred to the island. How To Reach Golden Buddha: Only early morning flight arrivals are able to make the transfer the same day to Golden Buddha Island - those arriving later in the day will spend the night in Phuket and transfer the following morning.
